career

In October 1994, Maradona, without coaching qualification, teamed up with his old teammate Fleon to coach Argentina's First Division team Mandy You. The result was 1 win, 6 draws and 5 losses. After Maradona left Mandiu  with his 1 win, 6 draws, and 5 losses, Mandy was sluggish and dropped to the second division of Argentina.

In February 1995, the team signed Maradona after dissolving with Distefano. But Maradona’s performance this time has not changed much. Until Maradona took classes on May 6, 1995, he led the team to 11 games and scored only 2 wins, 6 draws and 3 losses. However, Maradona's coaching this time also has bright spots, he let the team have achieved the first victory in Boka in the past 20 years.

On November 26, 2001, in the capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires, he accepted the football coach qualification certificate issued by the Football Association of the country.

On November 5, 2008, Maradona was hired by the Argentine Football Association as head coach of the national team. The contract period is 20 months and the annual salary is 1.2 million euros. On November 20th, the international football friendly between Argentina and Scotland was the first official match between Maradona and Argentina. With Maxi Rodriguez's goal in the 7th minute, Argentina defeated Scotland 1-0, and Maradona made his first victory after taking office.

On February 12, 2009, Argentina and France played a friendly football match in Marseille, a southern French city. Argentina scored a 2-0 victory over France. After taking over the Argentine national team, Maradona led the Argentine team to win two consecutive wins in the warm-up match. On March 29, in the 2010 World Cup qualifiers, Argentina beat Venezuela 4-0 at home.

This is also the victory of Maradona's first official match since coaching Argentina. On April 2, Argentina lost 1-6 to the Bolivian team in the World Cup South America qualifier. The score of 1-6 is Argentina's 1958 World Cup 1-6 loss to Czechoslovakia after the most tragic defeat, the field loss is also coach Maradona since the Argentina team lost for the first time. On June 6th, in the South American World Cup , Argentina coached by Maradona defeated Colombia 1-0 at home. On June 11th, in the South American World Cup , Argentina led by Maradona lost 0-2 to Ecuador, after they lost to Bolivia and lost again in the plateau. On September 6, Argentina coached by Maradona lost 1-3 at home to Brazil. The score of 1-3 was Argentina's biggest loss to Brazil at home in 49 years. On September 10, in the South American World Cup qualifier, the Argentine team lost to Paraguay 0-1 away. A survey conducted by the Argentine media after the match showed that nearly 90% of Argentinian fans asked the national team coach Maradona to resign, but Maradona refused to resign. On October 1, Argentina defeated Ghana 2-0 in the warm-up match. Since Maradona took office, Argentina has won in five warm-up matches. On October 11th, in the World Cup South America qualifier, Maradona’s Argentine coached Argentina at 2-1 at home to end a three-game losing streak in the qualifier. On October 15th, in the final round of the World Cup South American qualifier, Maradona led Argentina to a 1-0 win over Uruguay and went straight to the South African World Cup.
